Leviticus Study Chapter 24-27

July 27, 20170 Comments

As we complete our study on Leviticus this week on Online Ministry Training we will look at four very interesting concepts from Leviticus 24 and Leviticus 25. I want to encourage you to take the time to watch this study and hear about the lamp stand and the bread of presence and how they both relate to Christ and to all of us who believe. Also, the sabbath year and the year of jubilee give some great insight on our relationship with God in Christ.

Living Invitations Part 14 Ministry Chat

July 25, 20170 Comments

Each week on Online Ministry Training we like to post a little video chat about the sermon coming up on the weekend. This is an opportunity to prepare to get the most out of the message. We will be continuing in our discussion on mission. We will focus on three important parts of our mission, radical generosity, radical message, and radical hospitality. I use the word radical in the sense of doing something different. We need to be generous in our outreach, we need to be proclaiming the gospel, and we need be be a place where people feel welcomed when they come. All for one more!

Living Invitations 13

July 23, 20170 Comments

Our latest series is called “Living Invitations” and we are posting it here on Online Ministry Training as well as on our Preaching in Shorts website. This week we are starting to dig into the passage that we use as the foundation for our mission, 2 Corinthians 5:11-21:

2 Corinthians 5:11-21
11 Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are revealed to God; and I hope that we are revealed also in your consciences. 12 For we are not commending ourselves to you again, but speak as giving you occasion of boasting on our behalf, that you may have something to answer those who boast in appearance, and not in heart. 13 For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God. Or if we are of sober mind, it is for you. 14 For the love of Christ constrains us; because we judge thus, that one died for all, therefore all died. 15 He died for all, that those who live should no longer live to themselves, but to him who for their sakes died and rose again. 16 Therefore we know no one after the flesh from now on. Even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know him so no more. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 18 But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

In this message we talk about what “the fear of the Lord” is. We also talk about what it means to persuade people with the Good News. Then we take a quick look at the importance of learning to see people the way that God does.

Living Invitations Part 13 Ministry Chat

Our Online Ministry Training ministry chat continues with the thirteenth installment in our Living Invitations Series. This week we will focus deeper on our mission. We will be using 2 Corinthians 5:11-21 as the foundation for this discussion. As we talk about being ambassadors, we want to look at the message we are to deliver. We are the bearers of the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul shares the gospel with us in 1 Corinthians 5:1-6:

1 Corinthians 15:1-6 (NIV)
1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.

As a follower of Christ, this is the message of reconciliation that we are to offer to the world. It is the message we are looking to share by being living invitations. Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He rose on the third day. He also appeared to hundreds of people who were living witnesses that the resurrection took place. This is the message by which people are saved!
